Fibroid Surgery

Fibroid Surgery Lawyers in Houston

If you were diagnosed with cancer following uterine fibroid surgery (myomectomy), you should know that the FDA has issued a warning regarding certain power medical devices used to remove fibroids.  Power morcellator devices are used in such procedures and are believed to cause previously unknown cancerous cells to spread. The FDA now requires a black box warning label on the product to inform doctors and patients:
“Uterine tissue may contain unsuspected cancer. The use of laparoscopic power morcellators during fibroid surgery may spread cancer and decrease the long-term survival of patients. This information should be shared with patients when considering surgery with the use of these devices.”
Some hospitals have prohibited the use of these devices in their facilities since the FDA issued its warning and required the black box warning label.
Because of this, many women are bringing lawsuits against the manufacturers of these medical devices.

If you were diagnosed with leiomyosarcoma, endometrial stromal sarcoma, or any other uterine cancer following surgery to remove fibroids (or following any other uterus surgery) you should contact a personal injury lawyer at Fleming Law for a free consultation.
