For Nicholas P. Fleming, law runs in the family.

His late father, former Harris County Attorney Michael P. Fleming, practiced law in the Houston area for more than 30 years. His mother, Natalie Fleming, a former Harris County prosecutor and criminal court judge, sometimes took Nicholas and his five siblings to watch their father in action.

“When my dad would have a big trial, she’d take us to court,” Nicholas says.

A Houston native, Nicholas earned his B.A. in philosophy and the Gautralet Jesuit Scholarship from Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama, in 2014. He obtained his law degree from South Texas College of Law in Houston, his mother’s alma mater, in 2017. His cousin was in the same law class and now handles business and transactional law.

Nicholas clerked at the Harris County Attorney’s Office but soon joined Fleming Law the firm his father established, to work with his father on civil litigation. Please see below for a complete list of his practice areas.

He became the firm’s managing attorney in 2020, after his father’s death. Like his parents, he likes to help people however he can.

“You’re doing your best to help people out in a tough situation when they’re in a tight spot,” Nicholas says. “Seeing their faces when we’re able to work something out with the insurance company and get their medical bills paid and some money for their pain and suffering makes it all worthwhile.”

At a time when people can find any law firm through an online search, Fleming Law adds a personal touch. Anyone who contacts the firm about hiring a lawyer speaks with a lawyer directly to evaluate their situation, not just an operator, Nicholas says.

“We really take the free consultation seriously,” he says, noting that if Fleming Law isn’t a good fit for them, they’ll refer the person to another attorney who possibly can help them.

When not in court, Nicholas Fleming enjoys spending time with his family and friends, as well as being outdoors. He was part of the rugby football club in college and now enjoys running.
